So, how exactly do you become a Jim’s franchisee? Here are the steps you need to take:

1. Find out what franchise is best for you

With over 50 service decisions to choose from, there’s a Jim’s franchise out there to suit everyone. Better yet, we’re constantly expanding our service offerings, so our range of services increases with each passing year.

If you’re trying to determine what franchise division is best for you, a good place to start is by considering what it is that you actually enjoy doing. For example, if you know that you love spending time outdoors, then a Jim’s Mowing franchise would be a natural option to consider. On the other hand, if you know that you love working with animals, then a Jim’s Dog Wash or a Jim’s Pet Patrol franchise could be perfect for you. Rather than thinking about which franchises are the most profitable, start by thinking about how you can transform your interests, skills, and talents into a sustainable and fulfilling business.

At the end of the day, you’re going to be the one responsible for your business, so the franchise you buy has to be one that you’re passionate about.

 

2. Contact us and make an enquiry

The first step is often the hardest, but at Jim’s Group, we make it easy! If you’re interested in purchasing a franchise, all you have to do to take your first step is to lodge an enquiry. You can contact us either by calling 131 546 or filling out a form online. Our national call centre team will be able to answer some of your initial questions and walk you through next steps.

After you make your initial enquiry, you’ll receive a Franchise Information Kit which contains comprehensive information about our unique system. It’s a great resource–one that we encourage you to take your time with. If you have any questions about any of the details in the kit, make sure to jot them down as you’ll have an opportunity to ask all your questions to a current franchisor at the next stage of the process. 

3. Speak to a franchisor

Once you’ve lodged your initial enquiry, our national team will put you in touch with a franchisor in your division of interest. One of our franchisors will call you back and chat to you about your enquiry. 

This step is often the most illuminating one, as it allows you to talk to someone in the know about the realities of owning a Jim’s franchise. Here, you can ask the franchisor any and all questions you might have about the company and the business. 

The reason why we get our prospective franchisees to talk to a current Jim’s franchise owner instead of a customer service representative is because we want our prospective franchisees to speak to someone who has been in their shoes before. That way, we’re able to provide people with a more accurate picture of life as a Jim.

 

4. Come along on a trial day

At this stage in the journey, we invite our prospective franchisees to join one of our current franchisees on a trial day. Over the course of a day, you’ll have the pleasure of spending time with an existing Jim’s franchisee and seeing how they run their business on a day-to-day basis.

It’s one of the most valuable stages of the recruitment cycle as it allows you to really get a feel for how a Jim’s franchise works on a practical level. Our goal is for you to leave the trial day with a clearer idea of whether a Jim’s franchise will be the right lifestyle fit for you.

5. Decide to join the Jim’s family

So, you’ve spoken to a franchisor, you’ve attended a trial day, you’ve done your research, and you’ve decided that Jim’s is the right franchise for you. Congratulations! We’re now able to start making moves to turn those dreams into a reality.

This is the stage where we begin putting together everything you need to get up and running as a Jim’s franchise owner. Once you tell us that you’d like to move ahead, our national team will get straight to work sorting out your contracts, documentation, and training. The best part about joining Jim’s Group is that you have the support of a dedicated national office team from day one, which makes a world of difference when it comes to administration!

6. Attend our training course

The final stage of our onboarding process involves attending our training course. All of our prospective franchise owners are invited to attend a 3-day training course, which is delivered from our headquarters in Mooroolbark, Victoria. Over the course of 3 days, you’ll get to meet our founder and managing director, Jim Penman, as well as dozens of other prospective franchise owners who are also on a journey to kickstart their new careers. Our training courses run once every 3 weeks, so there’s plenty of opportunity throughout the year to come along. 

For some of our more specialised divisions like Dog Wash, Cleaning, Mowing, and Test & Tag, trainees are asked to undergo a few extra days of divisional specific training. The purpose of these extra training days is to ensure that our trainees are equipped with the technical skills they’ll need to run their businesses with confidence.

We don’t ask you to sign any contracts before attending your training program, so there are no strings attached. If you decide after completing the program that you’d no longer like to proceed, then there’s no hard feelings!

7. Go live!

Once training has been completed and all the relevant paperwork is in order, congratulations – you’re ready for launch! This means that your business can finally go live and you can begin accepting leads from our national call centre. 

Remember, you’re never in it alone as a Jim’s franchise owner, so support from our company doesn’t disappear once you launch. You’ll always be able to call on your franchisor and our national staff for help, no matter how long you’ve been in the business for. Our first priority has always been the welfare of our franchisees, so you can rest assured that you’re in safe and supportive hands from day one.
